This site is run by Vir Patel, trading as Built by Vir, in New Jersey, USA. It is a small business site and it collects very little. This page describes what it does collect, plainly.
What this site does not do
There is no advertising, no tracking pixels, and no cookies of any kind. Nothing on this site follows you anywhere else, and no information is sold or shared with advertisers.
Visitor counts
I use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It does not set cookies or store anything on your device, and it does not follow you to other sites. It reports totals to me, such as page views, the page you came from, your browser type and your country. It does not tell me who you are.
Fonts
The fonts on this site are served from this site itself, so loading a page does not send your browser to Google or any other font service.
Stored on your own device
If you use the light/dark theme switch, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it next visit. That value never leaves your device and is never sent to me. Clearing your browser data removes it.
Server logs
This site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare records standard request information: IP address, time, page requested and browser type, for security and reliability. I use these logs only to keep the site running, and Cloudflare handles them under its own privacy terms.
The inquiry forms
If you fill in a form on the inquiries page, what you type goes to me by email through Formspree, the service that delivers it. I use it to reply and to quote the work. Each form has one hidden field that people never see; it exists only to catch automated spam, and it collects nothing about you.
The forms also use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not a bot, is sending the message. To do that, Cloudflare looks at technical signals from your browser and device, under its own privacy terms. I never see those signals; I only receive a pass or fail.
So that no message is lost if the email fails to arrive, a copy of what you send through a form is also stored in a private database on Cloudflare, which hosts this site. Only I can see it, and it is kept and deleted on the same terms as everything else below.
If you contact me
When you email, call or use a form, I hold what you send: your name, contact details, and whatever you tell me about your business. I keep it so I can reply and, if you hire me, do the work. I keep it for as long as we're working together plus whatever period my tax records require, and I don't pass it to anyone else except where the law requires.
Client websites
Sites I build for clients are separate from this one and have their own privacy terms, which are the client's responsibility as the site owner. If I handle data on a client's behalf during a project, I do so only to carry out the work we agreed.
Your choices
You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email vir@builtbyvir.com and I'll respond. If you've received email from me and would rather not, reply with UNSUBSCRIBE and I'll remove you.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
